Gauhati University Centre of Distance Education: The Gauhati University Centre for Distance and Online Education (GUCDOE), formerly known as the Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) and the Postgraduate Correspondence School (PGCS), was established in May 1998. It is one of the well-known distance learning university in Guwahati, Assam, India and offering various courses to thousands of students through distance learning. Admissions to the university are tentatively scheduled for July 2025 for the academic year 2025-26.

GUCDOE began its operations in May 1998 with six courses and 514 students, before expanding into a learning institution with modern equipment. It now serves over 15,000 students with a variety of courses at more than 90 learning centers.  This university offers postgraduate courses like M.Com, M.Sc(IT), and M.A. ( Assamese, English, Political Science etc.). 

This university offers an affordable fee structure for candidates who want to pursue postgraduate courses, ranging from INR 5,500 to INR 15,000 per semester, depending on the selected course. Gauhati University Centre of Distance Education Admission Eligibility Criteria 2025: 

For M.A. and M.Com: Students must have completed their undergraduate degree from a recognized university/institution. There is no minimum percentage cutoff to get admission in the courses offered by this university. 

For M.Sc. (IT): Candidates seeking admission in the M.Sc. (IT) should hold a degree in BCA/ B.Sc. (IT)/ B.E./B. Tech. (CSE or IT). The university conducts a separate entrance examination specifically for this course. Only candidates who qualify in the exam are eligible to proceed with the registration process.
